Terry Hurst
Attorney and Founder
Terry Hurst has practiced law in the East Tennessee area for more than 40 years. He has served as Newport’s city attorney since 2000 and is a member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys.
Mr. Hurst is active in his church and community. He coached softball at Cocke County High School for many years, currently coaches the Cocke County Middle School softball team and is a new member of the Cocke County school board.
He is married with two grown children and enjoys spending time with his five grandchildren. He also is an avid fly fisherman, bird hunter and pickleball player.
Hans Faust
Attorney
Hans Faust is Newport’s newest attorney. He recently passed the Tennessee Bar exam, having graduated Magna Cum Laude from Lincoln Memorial University’s Duncan School of Law and is practicing law in partnership with his father-in-law, Terry Hurst.
Mr. Faust grew up in Johnson City and considers East Tennessee home. He was drawn to law school, he says, by the chance to help people who have made mistakes or face legal and financial difficulties often through no fault of their own.
Katie Proffitt
Office Manager
Katie Hurst Proffitt manages the Newport office of Hurst and Faust. She has an Economics degree from the University of Tennessee.
The mother of two active teenagers, Ms. Proffitt excels at multi-tasking, attention to detail and organization. She takes pride in giving each and every client professional but friendly service.
